Claridges Restaurant

When we visited Claridges Restaurant for sunday lunch last year I was so impressed that I voted it my Top Sunday Lunch Dining Experience in My Personal Food and Drink Awards. Well I can honestly say now that our visit this weekend was even better.

On sunday we entered the hotel through the main entrance and headed to the restaurant. Here we received a fabulous welcome back from all the team before being escorted to our table in the grandeur of the dining room. We settled for a few minutes when manager Will came over to us and after welcoming us back asked if we would like a tour of the kitchen. The kitchen itself was huge and I have to say spotlessly clean. We then made our way into the private dining room for a little chat before returning to our table.

Here we would now be spoiled by the team with their professionalism and excellent friendly service. We started with a drink while we looked at the menu. There was a nice selection of starters , mains and desserts. You start with the Parker House Roll and heavenly Claridges Butter before moving on to your first course.

Parker House Roll and Butter

Starters – We began with the Smoked Salmon accompanied with crème fraiche , cucumber and soda bread. While I opted for the Confit Chicken Terrine with pear chutney and brioche. The terrine was one of the best I’ve had and my wife thought the salmon was delicious.

Mains – For the main course we decided to have the Norfolk Black Leg Chicken with Truffle Stuffing for Two. This came with roast potatoes , cauliflower cheese , a healthy portion of seasonal vegetables and of course the gravy. The chicken was rich but absolutely fantastic and the cauliflower cheese was delicious. They will also offer to bring you more accompaniments if required but I’m pretty sure you won’t and remember there’s desserts to come.

Dessert – There are a selection of four desserts for the table that include the Claridges Chocolate with chocolate mousse , brownie , cocoa nib , caramel and hot chocolate sauce , Baked Lemon Meringue Tart , Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Cheese Course. Having had the chocolate before we started with the cheese before enjoying the lemon meringue and the best sticky toffee pudding ever.

We finished with a coffee and shortbread biscuits to round of a truly fabulous lunch. The food was incredible and the service was absolutely what you’d expect to receive at Claridges. The three courses are priced at £100 but if you might not think that is worth it then please take it from me it is. This a a hearty roast dinner that will be hard to beat anywhere.

Many Thanks to every member of staff for a fantastic dining experience and I’m pretty sure it won’t be to long before we’re joining you once again.
